MoodengSQL

Quickstart

Fastest path: build, start the server, connect with the built-in moodeng CLI. No config file required for local dev.

Prerequisites

  • Rust toolchain (stable) — tested with 1.85+
  • Git
  • Optional: psql for libpq-compatible clients (needs SCRAM in config)

1. Clone and build

git clone https://github.com/AidenHeavensXD/MoodengSQL.git
cd MoodengSQL
cargo build --release

2. Start the server

./target/release/moodengsql --data-dir ./moodeng_data

Legacy equivalent: moodengsql serve --data-dir ./moodeng_data. Listens on port 5432 by default.

3. Connect with moodeng CLI

./target/release/moodeng

In another terminal. Options: -h host, -p port, -c single command.

4. Run some SQL

CREATE TABLE users (
    id INT PRIMARY KEY,
    name TEXT NOT NULL,
    email TEXT
);

INSERT INTO users VALUES (1, 'Alice', 'alice@moodeng.dev');
SELECT * FROM users WHERE id = 1;

Production setup (psql / SCRAM / TLS)

cp moodeng.toml.example moodeng.toml
./target/release/moodengsql hash-password --scram "your-password"
# paste output into [auth].password_scram in moodeng.toml

./target/release/moodengsql serve --config moodeng.toml
psql "host=127.0.0.1 port=5432 sslmode=require"
